One of the North East’s most recognised family-run firms has built on its existing partnership with Durham Cathedral after commissioning a piece of art for its 10th annual calendar.
Cramlington-based Moody Logistics and Storage has engaged with one of the UK’s renowned cartoonists, David Haldane, for the project.
Moody’s has worked with David since 2008, who has helped to produce a series of wall calendars for the company, including its 70th birthday one in 2016.
To commemorate the 10th anniversary of producing these calendars, Moody’s has created a desktop version, as opposed to its usual wall calendar for customers.
In this year’s ‘Northern Icons’ calendar, David Haldane has depicted one of Moody’s signature vehicles in the design of the calendar, which also includes Durham Cathedral, The Angel of the North, Sage Gateshead and the Tyne Bridge.
David, who is from the North East, has drawn more than 3,000 cartoons for national newspapers and publications, including The Times, Daily Mail and Private Eye, as well as for advertising campaigns.
The inclusion of Durham Cathedral builds on Moody’s affiliation with the world heritage site, as one of its corporate partners within the cathedral’s 2020 Club.
Caroline Moody, Managing Director of Moody Logistics, said: “This has been an exciting project to be involved in, especially with such a well respected and talented artist and cartoonist in David. Our trucks travel the roads in the North East every day, so it is fitting for one of our vehicles to be captured in the design along with a number of our region’s landmarks, which our drivers pass most days.
“We find that not a lot of businesses produce calendars these days, so in many respects this year’s will be quite unique. It is another way of recognising and maintaining relationships with our loyal customers, while championing our fantastic region!”
Caroline added: “In our short time as one of Durham Cathedral’s 2020 Club members, we have already gained a lot from it and are looking forward to building on this partnership over the course of 2019 and beyond.”
