Jeni_Banks Black_White2North East based networking organisation The Mussel Club has appointed a new Managing Director, Jeni Banks to further the business forward in the New Year.

The Mussel Club was founded over eight years ago by St. James’s Place Wealth Management Senior Partner David Cook and has grown in popularity over the years, becoming one of the North East’s largest and most prolific free to join networks. The organisation hosts regular relaxed and social networking events and informative seminars across the North East, as well as their annual ‘Show Your Mussel’ business show held in the summer of each year.

Starting November 3rd Jeni began her new role at The Mussel Club and commented, “I am really excited to be involved with The Mussel Club. The network has a great reputation among thebusiness community, and I look forward to developing the brand, the events, and helping our members to grow their networks and win new business.”

Back in 2009 Jeni launched her own business networking company ‘May Fifteen’ in Cumbria, and after selling the company earlier this year made the move over to the North East. During her time in Cumbria Jeni won a number of business awards including being named as one of the ‘Future 100 Young Entrepreneurs’ in the UK, and the Growth Accelerator award in 2013.

The Mussel Club have plans to launch both a new website as well as a new app in January ’15, both designed to help their members to make new contacts and grow their businesses. There are also plans to launch a number or new events, as well as ‘effective networking’ seminars designed to help both start-ups and well established businesses get the most from business networking events.

In the past Jeni has lectured on the subject of business networking at Liverpool John Moores University and the University of Cumbria, and is already working closely with Newcastle University as one of their business mentors.
