Nature is Dreaming….

Screen Shot 2016-06-08 at 10.31.45Northumberland artist and one of the UK’s most popular living artists, Mary Ann Rogers, welcomes in the summer with a collection of new paintings, limited edition prints and gifts revealing nature in all of its glory.

Previewing on 25th and 26th June at her gallery home overlooking the River Rede at West Woodburn near Hexham, Mary Ann’ has been inspired by the words of the poem ‘nature is dreaming,’ written by Michael Carlson.

Capturing in her vibrant watercolours the very essence of nature and wildlife living in and around her home in the Rede Valley, Mary Ann will be launching four new limited edition prints.  Visitors will be able to peruse the beautiful range of paintings, prints and art based gifts whilst enjoying a glass of prosecco or cup of tea, accompanied with cake and meringues.

Inspired by hares skipping by the studio window, stopping to nibble at the new grass in the spring or cavorting in groups, Mary Ann explains here how the paintings in her summer exhibition represent not only many hours at the painting easel, but also many hours crouched in the cold:

“My inspiration really does come from the wonder of nature and observing creatures in their natural habitat wherever possible.  The hares I paint are completely oblivious to the watcher and are totally absorbed in the cut and thrust of the mating game, which can include boxing spats between males and females, or fighting off male attention.

“The hares are also completely unaware that they are serving as models for the latest hare paintings, which I will have completed in readiness for this exhibition.”

With the menagerie of guinea fowl and Indian runner ducks featuring in many of the paintings, this year’s catalogue has taken the runner ducks as its theme for the cover design.

The breath-taking beauty in the colour and shape of flowers also inspires much of the art work of this nature loving artist.  Following on from the hugely successful Tulipmania exhibition, tulip lovers won’t be disappointed as there are several new tulip paintings in this exhibition, including the wonderfully quirky Black Parrot Tulips, with their strange shapes and frilly edges.

In addition to the four new limited edition prints launching at this exhibition there are new bone china mug and jug designs, and for the crafters there are a fun new range of rubber stampers, featuring hare and hound, and chicken motifs.  Featuring for the first time, there will be two new hound design casual scarves as well as polo shirts for the ladies sporting a cockerel embroidered on the front.

Also available for sale at the exhibition will be the Voyage Maison range of beautiful cushions, footstools and mini cushions, ready to grace any home.

Mary Ann’s wildlife prints are very much in demand. Having been featured in numerous publications, radio broadcasts and TV programmes including ‘Woman’s Hour, radio 4; ‘Designer Homes’ and Discovery Channel; ‘The Hanging Jury’, her popularity is forever growing and expanding.

Mary Ann’s exhibition previews on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th June 2016 between 3.00 and 7.00pm.  It will then open to the public from Monday 27th June through to Sunday 17th July, 11am to 5pm daily.
