The election will take place on May 5th and Susan is recruiting volunteers to help spread the word and hand out leaflets across Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland, and Stockton.
Susan said “The need for change at Cleveland Police is clear. Barry Coppinger has failed us all and we now have an opportunity to elect the right man for the job, independent of party politics and determined to change Cleveland Police for the better.
“Sutan Alam is the only choice, but often the right man can miss out and we need to ensure this doesn’t happen.
“Our motto at Neighbourhood Welfare is ‘Putting Victims First’ and I believe that Sultan, as a victim of corruption within Cleveland Police himself, is the right man to cure the disease and ensure victims are placed first.
“We need people to support in any way they can, handing out leaflets, even if it’s only their area, spreading the word and sharing social media posts.”
Mr Alam has hailed the support of Susan, adding “I am independent, so don’t have the backing of a party machine. I rely on the dedication and support of individuals, such as Susan, who have decided, of their own initiative, that I am the right man for the job.
“People like Susan are crucial to raising awareness of my campaign and of the election in general. Let’s not forget that there are still many people who are unaware that an election for a new PCC is taking place on May 5.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank, in advance, everyone for their support and efforts. The smallest effort can have the greatest impact.”
