St Benet Biscop Catholic High School, Bedlington, will be one of three schools to form the new Pax Christi Catholic Academy, along with Ss Peter and Paul’s, Cramlington.
The new academy, which will officially launch on Monday, September 7, will provide a quality Catholic education system which caters for three to 18 year olds, in South East Northumberland.
As part of the academy’s launch Ian Lavery, MP for Wanbeck will be visiting St Benet Biscop Catholic Academy on the first day of term (Sept 7) to carry out a cutting of the ribbon ceremony and welcome new and returning students.
He will be joined by the academy’s head teachers, Con Todd and Felicity Penny, Joe Hughes,Director of the Diocesan Education Service and several students.
“The new academy gives us a unique opportunity to offer the best possible Catholic education,” said Con Todd, Headteacher at St Benet Biscop Catholic Academy.
“As a multi-academic trust we can pool our resources and expertise to ensure that our pupils get as much as possible from their time with us.”
As well as ensuring their pupils receive high quality teaching and extracurricular activities, the new academy will also focus on developing their students via expansive education days designed to develop their resilience, confidence and future development.
The new academy will also be holding an open evening on Thursday, September 17 to give future students and parents the opportunity to see what the new academy can offer.
