NEW ADDITIONS COMPLETE SHAMBLES MARKET HALL

VISITORS to Stockton Town Centre can now enjoy a broader range of shops thanks to the latest additions in the Shambles Market Hall.

Independent florist ‘That Flower Shop’ and children’s gift shop, ‘Baby Joy’ are the latest retailers to move into the Grade II listed building. They join six other independent businesses offering visitors and residents a whole range of products and services at the heart of Stockton Town Centre.

Inside the Shambles shoppers can also enjoy tasty treats and drinks at Andrea’s Pantry café, pick up traditional pick and mix at old fashioned sweet shop The Sweet Weigh, and even get a haircut from ‘the singing barber’ Paul Barton at Quick Cuts barber shop.

The indoor market hall is fully occupied with one unit allocated for use as a pop-up shop, offering entrepreneurs the chance to test trade their retail ideas on a short-term basis.

Councillor Mike Smith, Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport and Regeneration, said: “It is fantastic to see the confidence in Stockton as a place to do business continue to go from strength to strength. Many of the empty units in the Town Centre have been occupied and we have a diverse mix of independent retailers as well as high street favourites to offer a unique shopping experience.

“As the transformation of Stockton High Street nears completion, the Council wants to continue to attract and support new businesses to open. With the pop-up shop in the Enterprise Arcade, this second unit inside the Shambles will offer people further opportunities to test their trade in the very heart of a busy town centre.

“The local shopping experience and regeneration of the Town Centre is certainly creating a bustling atmosphere for shoppers, families and visitors. Come along and see all that Stockton has to offer.”

The Shambles is open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm.

Retailers can trade in the pop-up shop for up to three months at competitive rates. To find out more, contact Kelly Officer on 01642 526278.
