New appointment to spearhead GAS’ push for recruitment target

CaptureA Seaham-based cost management specialist has strengthened its management team with the appointment of an experienced recruitment specialist.

Victoria Walton has joined Great Annual Savings Group (GAS) as head of resource and talent after spending almost 20 years working in the recruitment industry.

In her new role Victoria will be responsible for sourcing high-quality staff for GAS, which has embarked on a mission to increase its headcount to 161 by the end of June. She will also support the HR function in the delivery of staff training and development programmes.

GAS has made great strides during its year-long recruitment drive, which has featured the creation of several new senior positions; a move to stunning new premises on Spectrum Business Park; the launch of six new services; and the trebling of its headcount, which is now 108.

Victoria’s appointment will be the catalyst to kick the recruitment drive into an even higher gear as GAS prepares to hit its target ready for the start of its new financial year in July.

Previously Victoria, a business marketing graduate, spent almost a decade with Hays Specialist Recruitment as a business manager, recruiting across a range of sectors in the North East. She then joined Northern Recruitment Group and was instrumental in the development of their contract division, sourcing interim finance professionals for a vast range of companies.

For the seven years prior to joining GAS, Victoria was part of the senior management team within Corepeople Recruitment, focusing on internal recruitment, training and development of staff, quality and compliance.

Victoria said: “I’m thrilled to be joining a forward-thinking, progressive company that has some exciting growth plans in the pipeline. Great Annual Savings Group is now an established name in the corporate cost management market.”

GAS helps businesses reduce their variable costs and save money in a range of areas including energy procurement, energy and water cost management, fire safety, telecoms and insurance. Recently the firm launched a suite of new services relating to security and surveillance, IT services, waste management, office equipment, private medical insurance and heating, ventilation and air conditioning.

Judith Bennison, group HR director at GAS, said: “Victoria’s appointment will allow us to source high-calibre staff as we continue with our expansion. Since June last year we have trebled our headcount to 108 and we are seeking to add to our team in the coming months.”
