Mark Platten has joined the Kavli UK team as Assistant Consumer Marketing Manager with a specific remit to follow customer behaviours and trends to influence future product innovation and subsequent marketing strategy.

Using his background as a research marketer, Mark will analyse consumer shopping and behaviours to develop further understanding of where each of Kavli’s products sit in their respective market places, providing greater insight to understand opportunities before they happen

A resident of Newcastle, Mark said of his new role; “Understanding the needs of our customers is key to the success of our brands which is where my role can directly influence both how we speak to consumers and the products we develop into the future. As a company, we’re truly listening to consumers’ views of not just our products, but also the wider market place which enables us to be at the forefront of product innovation.

“I was instantly attracted to the role at Kavli, not just for the opportunity to work with such recognised brands, but also the company’s charity credentials – it’s rare to find a business which donates profits to charity.”

Mark joins the Kavli marketing team alongside another relatively new face, Marketing Assistant Gareth Watson. Originally from Newcastle, Gareth joined the team straight from Falmouth University initially as an intern which was upgraded to a permanent contract in January of this year.

Utilising his digital and creative skills, Gareth produces multimedia content for Kavli UK including product and recipe photography, videos and social media content. He has also been integral to Kavli’s internal communications project ensuring ongoing company-wide engagement.

Mark and Gareth work alongside Consumer Marketing Manager Catherine Hopper and Head of Marketing, Lisa Thornton. Lisa commented on the new additions to the team; “The way we market to customers is changing and as a business we’re constantly evolving to meet the needs of our consumers. Mark and Gareth join our central marketing team in new roles which have been created to enable us to both listen to what our consumer wants and then deliver them in visually attractive packages.

“2016 will be an exciting time for the Kavli brand portfolio and I’m looking forward to our team being central to of the company’s future success.”

Kavli UK is wholly owned by the Kavli Trust, a charitable trust committed to supporting good causes. Annually it donates profits to charitable causes, supporting research, humanitarian and cultural projects within the UK and worldwide.
