This year’s event – alongside the mima 3k Fun Run – takes place on Sunday, September 6, with organisers hoping for a record field at the start line.

Runners, walkers and spectators can look forward to a number of improvements designed to enhance the overall experience of one of the region’s flagship events.

And this week race officials and representatives of the event’s sponsors visited Hall Drive to take a look at the new Athletes’ Village and the relocated start/finish line.

The start and finish of the Tees Pride 10k will now be at the same point on Hall Drive, at the junction with Cowley Road, nearer to the point where the Avenue of Trees meets Hall Drive.

The Athletes’ Village will be situated in the green space between Hall Drive and Acklam Hall, giving both spectators and runners more space to enjoy the carnival atmosphere of this increasingly popular annual event.

There are also slight changes to the event’s running order, with the mima 3k Fun run going off at 9.15am, the Taylor Wimpey Tees Pride Elite Wheelchair 10k starting at 9.30am and the Taylor Wimpey Tees Pride 10k elite men and women and the masses under starter’s orders for 10.45am.

Participants, spectators and local residents are reminded that road closures for the event will be implemented at 8.30am.

This year’s Taylor Wimpey Tees Pride 10k and mima Fun Run is anticipated to attract more than 4,000 runners, building on the success of the biggest ever Cleveland Centre 5k Riverside Run in May.

Race Director Scott Hydon said: “We know we’ve got a winning formula with the Taylor Wimpey Tees Pride 10k because people tell us how much they enjoy it, and they keep coming back every year.

“While the route remains largely unchanged, we’ve moved the start/finish line slightly and created an Athletes’ Village which I’m sure will go down well with participants and spectators alike.

“The Tees Pride 10k has a solid reputation as one of the best events of its kind in the region, and we will continue to improve it where possible to ensure that remains the case.”
