New Autoglym Exterior Trim Restorer brings dull and faded exterior plastics back to factory-fresh condition

Letchworth, 18 February 2026:  Autoglym, the UK’s largest car care brand, has launched Exterior Trim Restorer, a new premium-grade product that transforms dull and faded plastics back to their original factory-fresh condition and protects against fading for at least three months. The easy-to-use all-in-one kit includes enough product to treat around five mid-sized family cars.

Suitable for bumpers, wheel arch trims, mirror housings, and other unpainted, plastic exterior surfaces, Autoglym Exterior Trim Restorer can be used to protect new cars and also treat affected areas of older vehicles. The new product provides an ultra-durable coating that resists UV rays, extreme weather conditions and environmental contaminants, year-round.

While some plastic restorers fail to prevent water streaks and discolouration following rainfall, Autoglym’s new solution establishes a uniform satin finish that remains consistent in all weathers. The new Exterior Trim Restorer kit comes with a 30ml bottle of solution and a handy bespoke applicator that helps users apply the right amount of product with no risk of runoff. The one-stage application quickly creates a robust chemical bond with the surface and leaves no streaks or oily residues.

Exterior Trim Restorer has been developed for detailing enthusiasts and casual users alike. As the brand’s new premium-tier plastics treatment product, it will complement two existing Autoglym products in the category: Vinyl & Rubber Care and Bumper & Trim Gel.

New survey highlights problem of fading plastics
New nationwide research from Autoglym has found that a substantial proportion of UK car owners are finding dull and faded plastics are making their car less presentable. The survey found that 38% of car owners have observed that the exterior black plastics on their car are starting to fade, and 71% of those feel the overall appearance of their car is made worse as a result. Just 6% said faded trim didn’t undermine the look of their car.

Mark Knowles, Product Manager at Autoglym, said: “Faded plastic exterior trim can really let down the overall appearance of an otherwise pristine vehicle, and it’s something that can start to afflict cars that are just a few years old. We’ve developed Exterior Trim Restorer to offer a premium solution that is easy to apply, offers long-lasting protection, and brings exterior trim components back to their former glory.”

Priced at £29.99 (RRP), the Autoglym Exterior Trim Restorer kit is available from Autoglym.com and all good retail outlets.
