New Cestria homes in Bowburn

Meadows BowburnThese new houses and bungalows in the County Durham village of Bowburn are providing new starts for households in real need of an affordable home.

Cestria has been working with housing and community regeneration specialist Keepmoat to provide the six new homes – two family houses and four bungalows for older residents, at a cost of just over £500,000.

These are some of the not-for- profit landlord’s first homes developed outside its heartland of Chester le Street.

All six new homes are two bedroom properties, located on Crowtrees Lane, just south of Oakfield Crescent in the village.

The new properties are part of Keepmoat’ new ‘The Meadows’ development which adds 40 new homes to Bowburn, located close to the city of Durham and well placed for access to the A1(M).

The scheme is another development delivered through the Durham Villages Regeneration Company (DVRC).

Cestria has acquired the new homes, with the help of grant funding from the Homes & Communities Agency.

All the homes are being let through the Durham Key Options choice based lettings system.

Stephen Riding, Development and Regeneration Manager for Cestria Community Housing, said: “We’re really pleased with the high standard of these new properties in Bowburn. We’ve got two family homes on this development and four bungalows for older residents, which really help to address the need for affordable homes in this community.”

Cestria’s new homes in Bowburn will sit close to rented homes owned by group partner Isos Housing, which were also developed as part of the DVRC (Durham Villages Regeneration Company).

Durham Villages Regeneration Company is a partnership between Durham County Council and Keepmoat.

All new developments built for Isos Housing Group are brought forward on the basis of where homes are needed, and to enable the landlord to cost effectively manage its estate and any repairs and maintenance which might be required.
