Richmondshire’s new fleet of refuse trucks has taken to the road.

The five 26 tonne vehicles replace wagons that had outgrown their lifespan and were costing the District Council more to run.

As part of an ongoing review of the waste and recycling service operated by the authority – which includes looking at reconfigured collection rounds – it was decided that a change of vehicles was also needed.

The five vehicles – pictured with some of the crew that operate them – have been hired on a five year contract.
