New Litigation Hire at Leading Law Firm

Swinburne Maddison, Durham City’s pre-eminent law firm, and one of the leading law firms in the North East, has made a new appointment to its litigation team.

Scott Cable, who is a member of the Property Litigation Association, brings with him eight years of experience gained at one of Newcastle’s major law firms.  He will be working alongside partners Jonathan Moreland and David Low.

His arrival follows the firm’s recent award success in the Northern Law Awards, winning Team of the Year – Litigation and Dispute Resolution, when Swinburne Maddison was cited for ‘the calibre of its strong home-grown litigation and dispute resolution team’ as well as its ‘impressive breadth of expertise’.

With experience in all manner of real property, landlord and tenant and housing disputes, Scott will be advising on a wide range of property litigation matters such as termination and renewal of tenancies, dilapidations, rent reviews, unlawful eviction and general commercial property management issues for some of Swinburne Maddison’s key clients.

Speaking about his appointment, he said:  “I was attracted to the role at Swinburne Maddison because of its forward-thinking approach and fantastic reputation. This, coupled with the fact that many staff have remained here for their entire careers speaks volumes about the firm’s working environment and ethos.  It was simply too good an opportunity to miss.

“Looking to the future, I aim to develop Swinburne Maddison’s impressive client base within the private residential and commercial property sectors whilst demonstrating that companies seeking high quality legal representation do not have to go outside the region or for that matter, head south – it is readily available in Durham.”

Jonathan Moreland added:  “We are at an exciting stage in our development, able to combine a high quality working environment with varied and challenging work.  Scott adds real strength and depth to our firm and is a superb addition to the department. He has joined

the team seamlessly, sharing our approach to work and the way that he deals with clients.  He has an exciting future ahead of him at Swinburne Maddison.”
