New services officially opened in Stanley

Residents in Stanley can now enjoy easier access to a range of council services thanks to a new hub that has opened in the recently refurbished Louisa Centre.

The library, council customer access point (CAP) and registrars’ service are now all conveniently located together on one level in bright and modern accommodation in the Louisa Centre, making it easier for people to use them.

The library and CAP form the fifth and final phase of a wider refurbishment project that has been carried out at the Louisa Centre to improve leisure facilities at the venue and reduce running costs.

Alan Patrickson, head of project and business services at Durham County Council, said: “We are pleased that our project to provide better access to services for people living in the Stanley area has now been completed and our members of staff look forward to welcoming customers new and old to enjoy the new facilities.

“The wider refurbishment of the Louisa Centre will also deliver improved leisure facilities in the town.”
