As always, only the best local talent will be showcased, with live music from a range of fantastic bands, including old favourites, The Baghdaddies. Top-notch circus pranks will be provided by the beloved and talented Nat Lunatrick, supported by a quirky cast of parading performers. The entertainment will span the whole weekend and you can keep your engines running by trying out some of the most delicious food and drink the region has to offer.
This is our 20th year, so what better way to celebrate than with a birthday theme? Workshops, kids’ activities and information stalls will all be party-related. The festival’s aim is to engage people in thinking about sustainability and everyday ways of helping – and the way to do that is to make it INTERESTING and FUN – so look out for a whole host of things to do, aimed at all age ranges and abilities. What’s more: pretty much everything is FREE!
Festival director, Andy Fletcher, said: “Last year’s festival couldn’t go ahead because we didn’t have enough money. We rely on donations and grant funding to get this thing going and we’ve been working round the clock to keep the festival afloat – but this year promises to be spectacular. We are all volunteers and wouldn’t be able to put on this fantastic event without the help of everyone involved. It’s a labour of love, but what this festival provides to the community in Newcastle and beyond is totally worth it”.
The festival still needs funding. In fact, we rely on your generosity, so if you can help, please swing by our website – www.newcastlegreenfestival.org.uk – and drop us a PayPal donation. All contributors get a name check in our programme and a warm fuzzy feeling in their heart.
So block out your diary and roll up to Leazes Park for a fantastic weekend of music and mayhem. The weather is going to be excellent, so there’s really no excuse to miss it!
