The 3rd day of the National Cadet League sees the league spilt into 2 divisions. With all the teams fighting for a top 5 finish and a space in the championship division.   The A team were sat in 3rd place going into the day. A slow start to the day saw the A team going down to champions elect Darlington A, however Troy Maddison scored a great win over a top 50 ranked player, and the team were back to winning ways with a 6-3 win over Ormesby B.

The C team had a tough opening match and had to the play Bishop B team going down 9-0 but just like the A team returned to winning ways with a 6-3 win over Ryedale.

The B team started the day in 7th, with a top 5 place 14 points away. However the team, who last year had finished runners up in division 2, hadn’t given up hope and started with a 9-0 victory over the Bishop Auckland C team. This took them up to 6th place with the next match against 5th placed Northumberland.  Requiring an 8-1 win or better to gain the final place in the championship division, the achieved an impressive 9-0 win, securing their spot.

The spilt then saw the A team face off against the B team, with the A team stamping their authority scoring a 8-1 victory but wasn’t as easy as the score line suggests with several 5th set losses for the B team.  The young C team put up a good fight when playing Darlington B with Emma Smith taking a starring role with her two unexpected wins but wasn’t enough in a 6-3 loss.

The final round of matches saw the C team put up a good fight against the older team from Northumbria with 9-year-old Ben Mold getting two victories in a narrow 5-4 loss. The B team also suffered a narrow defeat to second placed Ormesby A. Anya Milne scored 2 wins with Both Alex Robinson and Jacob Martindale going down in the 5th to the Ormesby number 2.

The results see the A team sat in 3rd place with a game in hand the B team in 5th place and the C team sat in 4th place in Division 2.
