A leading North East dementia charity is celebrating after winning a top award.
Newcastle-based Dementia Care has been named Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care Provider of the Year for the North East of England at the 2017 Social Care Awards.
Dementia Care, which has centres at Newcastle and Hexham, offers respite care, home support, day services and independent supported living housing for people with dementia.
They have dedicated over 20 years to providing specialist care and services for people with dementia, their families and carers in the North East with over 200 people with dementia using their facilities each week.
Dementia Care’s Chief Executive, Dave Stevens, said: “We are all delighted to have received this award and it is lovely to receive recognition for the work we do.
“More people than ever are aware of dementia and the issues it raises for individuals and their families, so our work is more vital than ever”
Run by Global Health and Pharma, the awards are designed to give recognition, and to celebrate, those who have dedicated their lives and work within the field of social care.
