North East Shopping Centres bag £20,000 for St Oswald’s

intu Eldon Square and intu Metrocentre have bagged £20,000 for St Oswald’s Hospice in Newcastle as part of their Charity of the Year partnership.

For the past twelve months the North East shopping centres have been busy with a whole host of fundraising initiatives including; Puggy Banks in each shopping centre, being the official sponsor for the St Oswald’s Hospice 2017 Great North Run vests, ‘taking over’ St Oswald’s Gosforth High Street shop for the day and giving their staff a masterclass in visual merchandising, and using their skills to host training workshops for St Oswald’s retail managers.

Clare Cannon, Community Manager at intu North, explained:

“We have been proud supporters of St Oswald’s Hospice for a number of years and were heavily involved with their Great North Snowdogs campaign back in 2016 having sponsored our own Snowdog, Hound Dog. Following on from this, St Oswald’s seemed like a natural choice to become one of our nominated charities for 2017.

“We’ve been immensely proud to have been in a position to support St Oswald’s over the past year and we have been humbled to offer support to one of the most recognised and hardworking charities in the North East. We look forward to working with St Oswald’s on future projects.”

Siobhan Sargeant, Corporate Fundraiser at St Oswald’s, said:

“We’re absolutely delighted with the £20,000 grand total which intu Eldon Square, intu Metrocentre and their generous customers have raised for us. Since we were chosen us as one of their nominated charities, they’ve been really enthusiastic and supported a whole host of wonderful fundraising ideas to help ensure the past 12 months were an enormous success.

“We’ve been hugely inspired by how proactive their employees have been with staff treks to Ben Nevis and entering the largest group of corporate runners at this year’s Great North Run for St Oswald’s.

“The commitment demonstrated to St Oswald’s over the past year has been outstanding and I’m delighted that we will continue to work together throughout 2018 and 2019 on a number of exciting projects and campaigns. We’d like to say thank you and congratulations to everyone who has contributed to the successful charity partnership.”
