North East Spa uses National Week to give back

Screen Shot 2015-10-20 at 10.33.12THE NORTH East’s newest spa is using a national event as an opportunity to say thank you to the unsung heroes and heroines of the medical profession.

November 2 – 6 is National Spa Week and the Spa at Ramside at Ramside Hall Hotel near Durham will be joining venues around the country in offering a range of special offers and packages.

And the spa is also using the week to give something back to Macmillan Cancer Support, offering nominated nurses a spa day each day of the week.

The Ramside is already working closely with the specialised nurses, who have endorsed the spa’s Wellness for Cancer programme which is the first of its kind in the UK.

People are being asked to nominate a Macmillan nurse via the spa’s Facebook page, with a few words as to why they deserve to be pampered and using the hashtag #givingsomethingback.

The spa will then choose five nurses who will each be given a spa day with a range of treatments during National Spa Week.

“The Macmilllan nurses are a fantastic group who do an amazing job supporting people who are dealing with cancer,” said Jill Russell, Spa Director at Ramside.

“This is an opportunity for them to enjoy a bit of pampering and relaxing and we hope that people will nominate a nurse who they believe truly deserves a treat.”

The Spa at Ramside is also offering a range of packages for two at a specially discounted rate during the week.

This includes their Two Peas in a Pod, Twilight Date Night, Midweek Time Together and Fight Dirty, with full details of the packages available via the spa website.

“These packages are a great opportunity for couples or friends to spend some special time together,” said Jill.

The Spa at Ramside at County Durham’s Ramside Hall Hotel, recently launched its affiliation with American-based Wellness For Cancer, the world’s first accredited programme for the spa industry.

The Wellness for Cancer training involved all staff learning about the disease and the importance of bringing “mindfulness” elements – a technique which helps people deal with anxiety by living in the moment – into play.

The therapists at Ramside have also undergone Wellness For Cancer’s training in massage and manicures and pedicures which have been created to ensure those suffering from the disease will feel relaxed and comfortable.

The £8m Spa at Ramside opened in August and offers five pools including one of the UK’s biggest hydrotherapy pools, 14 treatment rooms, a thermal suite, a Sleep Sanctuary and a Rasul mud chamber.
