Newcastle-based instrumentation control and automation specialist CMR UK has won the EEF Future of Manufacturing Sustainability Award North East, Yorkshire and Humberside.
The success recognises the company’s strong commitment to boosting sustainability and improving environmental performance at its New York Way industrial estate head office and production facility.
CMR, which currently employs 80 staff in Newcastle providing electrical wiring harnesses and other control systems to Cummins among other national and international customers, also secured the runners up slot in EEF Future of Manufacturing Health and Safety category.
Employees were praised by a panel of business leaders, academics and industry experts for their success in the face of tough competition from other leading engineering companies.
CMR was also recognised for its dedication to health and safety while driving up continuous improvement levels and creating a positive safety culture across frontline operations.
Paddy O’Donnell, CMR’s H&S and environment officer, said the award is a great testament to our hard working and dedicated staff across every department within the business.
“This achievement is an endorsement of the collaborative efforts of every person in our organisation – we’re delighted to have won. Everyone’s hard work and daily input really makes a difference to both safety on site and the local environment.”
The EEF Future Manufacturing Awards – now in their tenth year – are the most established and respected regional and national recognition of manufacturing success.
