North Yorkshire County Council wishes to congratulate pupils, primary schools and early years providers for significant and rapid improvement in outcomes at both key stages 1 and 2 this year.
Results are still provisional but it appears that the proportion of North Yorkshire pupils who have attained the national standard at Key Stage 2 has increased by 7 per cent.
In the KS2 reading test, for example, the proportion of pupils achieving the national standard has increased by over 6% to 71%.
Improvements in separate assessments for the Key stage 2 tests in reading, writing and mathematics this year mean that overall 59% of pupils have achieved the national standard or higher in the headline measure for reading, writing and mathematics combined. This represents an increase in North Yorkshire of over 7%.
“We are very proud of these results,” said County Councillor Patrick Mulligan, North Yorkshire’s Executive Member for Schools. “They are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our pupils, teaching staff and families.
“These are provisional results, but they show that North Yorkshire is a place where children can thrive, where they can give of their very best and where there is ambition to achieve the highest standards of teaching and learning.”
