Northumberland’s number one – Steve is county’s top site manager

An award winning Site Manager at a development in Morpeth has been honoured with a Seal of Excellence – becoming the only person working on a Northumberland new build project to receive the accolade this year.

Steve Bellamy, from Thornley in County Durham, is overseeing the construction of new properties at Linden Homes’ Saint George development and is one of just seven site managers from across the North East to receive this award – part of the National House Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job Awards.

Now in its 37th year, the awards specifically celebrate the contribution a Site Manager makes to a development and recognises those who achieve the highest standards in house building.

NHBC inspectors began judging 18 months ago, assessing managers against stringent criteria across 44 areas – including technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and quality control procedures.

Steve is one of over 16,000 people nationally, who competed in the first stage of the awards and was recognised among the best in the profession with a Quality Award, back in June.  In now achieving this Seal of Excellence Award, he has been marked out as one of the best 130 site managers in the country – a further acknowledgement of the excellent quality of work he is achieving at Saint George.

Steve said: “I was surprised but delighted when my name was announced at the awards event. It is obviously fantastic to have my work recognised in this way but I would also like to thank my team for all of their hard graft and dedication on this ambitious development. The Seal of Excellence recognises and places emphasis on attention to detail and it shows that we are raising the bar in terms of quality and workmanship here at Saint George.

“We are constructing 28 different and unique house types and within these, we have a number of other bespoke variations and layouts. This means that our communication and working practices have to be exemplary and I see this personal commendation – which has been awarded by judges who have visited our site on a number of occasions – as further evidence of the exceptional standards we are achieving.”

Sean Egan, Managing Director with Galliford Try Partnerships North, which incorporates the Linden Homes brand, said: “Steve epitomises our drive to build high quality homes which surpass buyers’ expectations.  He is an example to us all and we commend him for his achievement both on site and in the NHBC awards.”

The Saint George development is just a mile from the centre of Morpeth and offers buyers a wide selection of new homes from two bedroom semi-detached properties – ideal for first time buyers – to expansive, detached, five bedroom executive homes.

Linden Homes, which is committed to improving the choice and quality available to North East house buyers, is also building at The Fairways in Morpeth, Trilogy I in Gateshead, The Aspens in Birtley and at North Farm in Blyth.
