Outdoor theatre at Wharton Park

Families looking to spend more time outdoors this summer can now book up for a range of theatre performances taking place within the city’s Wharton Park.

The outdoor amphitheatre will host three plays suitable for all the family, starting with Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland on Friday, 6 July.

Children are invited to join Alice as she stumbles into the magical world of Wonderland and meets a host of eccentric characters from the Mad Hatter to the White Rabbit.

The Chapterhouse Theatre Company production, which begins at 6.30pm, costs £16 for adults, £10 for children or £46 for families (two adults and two children).

A new adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic play A Midsummer Night’s Dream will also take audiences to a world of love, magic and mischief.

Scena Mundi Theatre Company’s fast-paced, fun rendition of the Bard’s best loved comedy begins at 6.30pm on Friday, 27 July, with tickets priced at £16 for adults, £10 for children and £46 for families.

Once the summer holidays get underway, August is the perfect opportunity to head along to the park for a special afternoon performance of Pirate Pearl and the Big Blue Monster.

The show, which begins at 1.30pm on Wednesday 8 August, follows Pearl and her grandpa on board the good ship Mirabel, where she finds a little blue monster who soon gets greedy.

Book now to discover whether she finds her way out of trouble, with tickets costing £10 for both adults and children, or £36 for families.
