As part of an ongoing recruitment drive across various departments, Nuffield Health Tees Hospital has made a key new appointment.
With over 20 years’ experience in the medical field, Maggie Harris has joined the team in the role of matron at the CQC rated ‘outstanding’ hospital in Stockton-on-Tees.
Maggie’s varied career has seen her work her way from staff nurse to matron within the North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust, specialising as an orthopaedic theatre nurse and theatre sister for over 20 years. Her hands-on experience saw her move into a managerial position within the Trust as a complaints and claims manager in 2010, before returning to patient-focused healthcare as an outpatient matron prior to joining Nuffield Health in July 2019.
In her new role, Maggie will be responsible for managing and coordinating the hospital’s domestic and medical teams to ensure that the hospital remains clinically safe and maintains its incredibly high standards of patient care.
Working closely alongside the various heads of department, Maggie will be instrumental in helping Nuffield Health Tees to maintain its outstanding CQC status and will help to facilitate opportunities to grow and improve the hospital’s services in line with business targets and patient requirements.
“I am delighted to have been offered the opportunity to join the team at Nuffield Health Tees Hospital,” Maggie said.
“Having worked in the local NHS Trust for many years, I am very familiar with Nuffield Health as an independent healthcare provider and I have a number of friends and former colleagues who have chosen to work for Nuffield who have never looked back.
“I have big shoes to fill in my role as matron, but I am really excited at the opportunity to work alongside such an experienced and passionate team.”
Andrew Shippey, interim hospital director at Nuffield Health Tees Hospital, commented:
“As a not-for-profit organisation, Nuffield Health is committed to continuously investing in technology and resources that help us to improve the quality of our offer to patients.
“Our dedication to maintaining the highest possible standards of care has seen us recognised with the Health Investor Private Hospital Group of the Year award for the past three years in a row, something which we could not have achieved without the hard work and dedication of our incredible staff, which is why attracting the right candidates is so important to us.
“Maggie’s expertise in the healthcare sector and experience working closely with patients make her a perfect fit for this role and we’re pleased to welcome her on board.”
