Overnight road closures for resurfacing

Drivers are advised of a number of upcoming overnight road closures to allow for resurfacing.

Durham County Council will be carrying out the work on the Cock o’ the North roundabout in Durham City at the approaches and exits to the A167 and the A177 South Road up to the junction for Roundhaven.

The resurfacing will take place over four successive nights from Sunday 1 November until Wednesday 4 November.

In order for the work to be completed, various sections of the A167 and the A177 will be closed each night between 8pm and 6am.

The Cock o’ the North roundabout will also be fully closed from midnight until 6am every night except Monday 2 November.

The closures will be fully signed and diversions will be in place throughout.

John Reed, head of technical services, Durham County Council, said: “We appreciate the public’s patience while we carry out this work to improve the road surface at this busy junction. We would also advise motorists to be prepared for disruption during the closures and to follow the diversions in place.”
