PARTYGOERS at a star-studded Halloween event raised a staggering £150,000 for a leading North East charity.
The inaugural Halloween Spectacular, in aid of the Graham Wylie Foundation, attracted a ghoulish-dressed roll call of guests including TVs Jeremy Kyle, Steps star Faye Tozer, golfer Lee Westwood and showbusiness personality Christopher Biggins.
And the money raised at the event, through ticket sales, a raffle and a charity auction, will now go to help children across the region.
Around 500 guests attended the party, held at Newcastle Falcons Kingston Park rugby ground on 30 October in association with Newcastle cabaret club Boulevard, and the charity’s founder, Graham Wylie, now hopes it will be an annual event.
“It was a fantastic showcase of what we can achieve here in the North East,” said Mr Wylie, who personally meets all the running costs of the Foundation.
“Because not only did guests show incredible generosity in buying tables and bidding for prizes, but other factors, such as the staging of the event, the entertainment and the catering, could not have been possible without the expertise of North East people and businesses.
“And the figure raised – which is truly magnificent – will stay here in the North East where it will help, educate and inspire our children.
“I am very, very grateful to all who helped make this first Halloween Spectacular such a success – and I am already planning the next one.”
