Patriotic day raises hundreds for chest charity

Screen Shot 2016-05-05 at 15.44.39A DAY when school uniform was swapped for a dazzling display of red, white and blue has raised hundreds of pounds for charity.

Pupils at Barnard Castle School chose to link their sponsored non-uniform day with The Queen’s 90th birthday, with some taking their patriotism to extremes.

Alex Tankard sported his union flag suit while even the school chaplain Reverend Darren Moore joined in the spirit with a discreetly patriotic dog collar.

The day was organised by Kim Hodgson, secretary of the school’s charity committee and her team, who chose the Pulmonary Hypertension Association UK as beneficiary of the £460 donated by pupils and staff.
