Planned roadworks in the North East: summary for Monday 21 to 27 December

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of Friday 18 December but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

A1 junction 56 Barton to junction 51 Leeming Bar

There will be narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction in place 24 hours a day over the Christmas period, until Monday 4 January 2016. The project is due to be completed by spring 2017.

A1 Lamesley to Swalwell, Gateshead

There will be narrow lanes and a 40mph and 30mph speed restriction in place 24 hours a day over the Christmas period, until Monday 4 January 2016. The project is due to be completed by spring 2016.

A1 Morpeth, Northumberland

There will be narrow lanes and a 40mph speed restriction in place 24 hours a day over the Christmas period, until Monday 4 January 2016. The project is due to be completed by the end of 2016.

A1 Brownieside, Northumberland

There will be a lane closure north and southbound for investigation work. This will take place Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 December, between 8.30am and 4pm.

A66 Bowes to Cross Lanes, County Durham

There will be a 24 hour contraflow in operation for resurfacing work. The westbound carriageway will be closed with all traffic travelling on the eastbound carriageway. This will take place until 22 December.
