The election will take place on Thursday, May 5.
The candidates are:
- Sultan Alam (Independent)
- Barry John Coppinger (The Labour Party)
- Steve Matthews (UK Independence Party – UKIP)
- Matthew Alexander Vickers (The Conservative Party Candidate)
Residents who are not on the electoral register must apply to vote by 18 April 2016 to ensure they can vote in the election.
Those who would like to vote by post must apply by 5pm on 19 April, while the application deadline to vote by proxy is 5pm on 26 April.
Registration can be completed online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or by phoning the Voter Registration Helpline on 01642 526196.
Registration takes just a few minutes and requires people to provide their date of birth and National Insurance number. The online service is compatible with all platforms, including smartphones and tablets.
Alternatively, hard copy registration forms are also available by request.
