Pride party announces pop headliners

A STAR-STUDDED line up for a concert taking place over the Newcastle Pride weekend has been revealed, making sure the weekend goes off with a Bang Bang.

Event organisers, Geordie Moor, have announced that chart topper, Jessie J, is lined up to perform in the big top tent on Saturday 21 July after Newcastle Pride has wrapped up for the day.

Jessie J boasts an impressive string of top ten hits including Price Tag, Domino, Nobody’s Perfect and Bang Bang – which she collaborated on with Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj and which went multi-platinum worldwide.

She will be joined on the line up by pop starlet, Nadine Coyle, known for her successful music career as one fifth of girl group Girls Aloud, as well as her solo singles Insatiable, Go to Work and Girls on Fire.

Music fans will have the opportunity to see both of the stars perform at the ticketed event, which is being referred to as ‘The Big Party’ and will take place in the big top tent at Nuns Moor Park.

Festival director of Newcastle Pride, Stephen Willis is delighted that the tent is being used when it would otherwise be vacant.

“Pride wraps up on the site by 6pm so when Geordie Moor approached us about buying the use of the tent for the concerts, it seemed like the best way to make the most of the big top,” said Stephen.

“Although the concerts are being held independently of Newcastle Pride, the acts that have been announced so far are amazing performers and it’s sure to be a fantastic evening.

“Jessie J and Nadine Coyle both know how to put on a great show and it’s a night that’s not to be missed.”

The Saturday concert follows the launch party event on the Friday evening, where 90s dance-pop group, The Vengaboys will be performing alongside a superstar group who are yet to be announced.

A percentage of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to LGBT charity, Northern Pride who organise the annual festival and this will help to ensure that Newcastle Pride, which takes place from 20 -22 July 2018, is able to stay free for future years.

Early bird tickets start at £32 and can be purchased from Geordie Moor’s website, www.geordiemoor.co.uk.

Those wanting to attend all three of the concerts over the weekend can purchase an early bird weekend ticket, priced at £102.
