Killhope – The North of England Lead Mining Museum will on Sunday 15 May welcome members of Bishop Auckland Radio Club to its newly restored Buddle House.

Cllr Neil Foster, Durham County Council’s cabinet member for economic regeneration, arts and culture, said: “Killhope offers a grand day out for the whole family, whether you’re looking for fun or to immerse yourself in history.

“And in National Mills Day we have an opportunity to celebrate our magnificent Park Level Mill and its waterwheel – with the radio enthusiasts helping to share what we have with the world.”

The multi-award winning Killhope offers a chance to experience the life and work of lead mining families in the centre of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Famous for its iconic working waterwheel, the attraction offers stunning views, captivating art, fascinating history, scenic walks and amazing wildlife – including red squirrels.

Entry costs £8.60 for adults, £7.60 for concessions, £4.70 for four to 16-year-olds, with under fours free.

There is no extra charge for the National Mills Day event, which will see the radio fans contact other milling enthusiasts all over the world.
