Redcar & Cleveland College Launches Care Wing Naming Competition

A TEESSIDE college is appealing to the public to help it find a new name for its state-of-the-art health and social care facility.

Redcar and Cleveland College has launched a competition as it looks to dedicate the name of its therapeutic care wing to an inspirational figure.

Principal, Liz Phillip said: “I am delighted to be able to announce this competition. We believe that this is an exciting opportunity to dedicate this important college facility to someone worthy of the recognition.

“The wing is a crucial part of learning and development for students on health and social care courses and allows for a real hands-on experience from both the perspective of the patient and the care worker.

“Featuring a three-bed ward, fully functioning ambulance, clinic area and a nurse’s station, it gives students the opportunity to learn skills that can be transferred straight into the workplace.”

Open to anyone, competition entries must include the name of the nomination along with a brief description of why the person should be selected to have the wing named after them.

Nominations for this exciting opportunity could be for a regional or national figure, a relative, friend or anyone that you believe deserves this tribute.

Along with the renaming, the winner of the competition will also receive a 32GB iPad Mini.

To enter the competition please send your nomination into marketing@cleveland.ac.uk before the closing date on Friday 17th March.

Liz added: “We look forward to not only hearing the nominations from people who would like to win the competition but why they believe them to be the perfect person to help inspire the next generation of health and social care professionals.”

The College offers a number of courses in health and social care, both full and part-time, ranging from further education to higher education.
