Reigning champions Durham University RFC ready to defend their County 7s title

Screen Shot 2016-05-20 at 14.13.03With two weeks go until the Durham County 7s at Billingham’s Greenwood Road ground, entries are flooding in for the Elite and Social contests. Durham University won the County 7s title in 2014 and 2015, and will be pushing for the hat trick this year. Winners of this year’s competition will qualify for the England RFU 24Sevens Series playoffs, aiming to reach the Finals at Twickenham.

In the social competition, there is a real buzz on social media to enter fun sevens teams for the event. It’s all about taking part, and we welcome anyone who just wants to pick up a ball and run, for fun or glory. Get your mates together and email secretary@billinghamrugby.co.uk for details. There is a small registration fee, and prize money for winning teams.

Alongside the competitions, which kick off at 11am on Saturday 4th June, there will be live entertainment all afternoon and into the evening, and a micro beer festival with 8 guest ales at only £2 a pint.
