Remembrance Sunday Services across Stockton-on-Tees

SERVICES of Remembrance will be held across Stockton-on-Tees Borough on Sunday 12 November to remember all those who gave their lives in both World Wars and more recent conflicts.

Stockton

Stockton Parish Church’s usual contemporary Sunday Service will have a remembrance theme. Those wishing to attend the service are advised to be at the Parish Church by 9.25am.

A parade will move off from the High Street to meet the church congregation for a service at the Cenotaph beside the Parish Church at 10.45am. Those who wish to watch the parade and pay their respects at the Cenotaph should assemble by 10.35am. At this service, the Mayor of Stockton–on–Tees, Councillor Maurice Perry, will lay a wreath on behalf of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council. After the service, the parade will re-form and march back down the High Street where the Mayor and Lord Lieutenants will take the salute.

Thornaby

The Deputy Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees, Councillor Eileen Johnson, and members of the Thornaby Branch of the Royal British Legion will meet members of the public at St Patrick’s Church, Chelmsford Street off Westbury Street at 10am. The parade will set off at 10.30am and march to a service at the Cenotaph, Acklam Road at 10.45am when the Deputy Mayor will lay a wreath on behalf of the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees.

Yarm

A service will be held in the Parish Church, West Street, Yarm at 9.30am followed by a procession along West Street, Bridge Street and the High Street for a short service, Roll of Honour and wreath laying ceremony at the war memorial at 10.50am. The service at the War Memorial will be followed by a procession along the High Street.

Billingham

The Parade will assemble in the car park of the Salutation Pub, Billingham at 10.15am-10.30am and will move off along Station Road for a service at the Cenotaph on Station Road at 10.55am.

Egglescliffe

A service will be held at Egglescliffe Parish Church (St John the Baptist), Butts Lane, Egglescliffe at 10am followed by a short service and wreath laying at the Cenotaph outside the church at 10.55am.

Port Clarence

A service will be held at the Cenotaph, Port Clarence at 2.30pm.

Preston-on-Tees

A service will be held at All Saints Church, Dunottar Avenue, Preston-on-Tees at 9.45am.  The Parade will then make its way to the Cenotaph on Victoria Road to lay wreaths at 11am.

Wolviston

A service will be held in St Peter’s Church at 10.15am, with a procession to the war memorial for the laying of the wreath at 10.45am.

Stillington

A service will be held at Stillington Cenotaph, Messines Lane, Stillington at 12 noon.

Kirklevington

A Service of Remembrance will take place at The Church of St Martin and St Hilary, Forest Lane, Kirklevington at 10.30am.

Ingleby Barwick

A Remembrance Sunday Service will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Barwick Way, Ingleby Barwick at 10am. The service will be followed by a walk to the War Memorial (sited adjacent to the main entrance into Romano Park) for a short service and the laying of wreaths at 11am.
