Residents’ Views Sought over Neighbourhood Plan

middlesbrough-moving-forwardRESIDENTS of a Middlesbrough ward are being invited to take part in a referendum over future planning for their area.

The Neighbourhood Planning Referendum for the Marton West Ward will take place on Thursday, October 20.

Neighbourhood Planning was introduced to enable local communities to play a more direct role in planning the areas in which they live and work.

A community can prepare a Neighbourhood Plan, setting out how the local community wants land to be used and developed in its area.

In the referendum, residents in the Marton West Ward will receive a ballot paper with a choice of a yes or no answer to the following question:

Do you want Middlesbrough Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for the Marton West Area to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?

Information regarding Neighbourhood Planning and the area covered by the referendum can be found on the Council’s website: http://www.middlesbrough.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=7787

Those residents who are already registered to vote in the area will receive a ballot paper in the coming months.

Those wishing to register should visit www.gov.uk/register-to- vote or contact electoral services on 01642 729771.
