Councillor Christopher Massey, Deputy Leader of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council said: “We welcome the formal creation of the South Tees Development Corporation and look forward to being an integral part of its future and seeing the plans for our vibrant area developed and delivered.
“We will work hard to make sure that the redevelopment of South Tees directly benefits local people. This area will continue to need financial support from central government and will hold ministers to account to make sure central government delivers on its promise of financial support for the area.”
Amanda Skelton, Chair of the SSI Task Force and Chief Executive of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council said: “The priority for the Task Force is to make sure that new jobs are created and available for local people. We continue to support those directly affected by the SSI closure with retraining which will help people to benefit from new opportunities created by the STDC.”
