Resurfacing on Lowes Barn Bank

Motorists are advised of essential resurfacing work taking place in the Neville’s Cross area of Durham City this week.

Lowes Barn Bank will be closed between the junction of the A167 by the Duke of Wellington pub and the A690 at Neville’s Cross Bank.

Durham County Council is carrying out the work from Tuesday 1 December with the scheme due to be completed by Tuesday 8 December.

Traffic will be diverted via the A167 at the Duke of Wellington up to the traffic lights at Neville’s Cross and back down along the A690 Neville’s Cross Bank, and vice versa.

Residents of Lowes Barn Bank and The Steadings estate will be able access their homes via Park House Road and Hastings Avenue.

John Reed, head of technical services, Durham County Council, said: “This work is part of our ongoing essential maintenance programme to improve the county’s road network.

“We would advise motorists to expect some delays and we appreciate the public’s patience while the work is completed.”
