Royals pull off MBA signing

London City Royals have made another statement with the signing of former GB international, Matthew Bryan-Amaning.

The 30-year-old returns to the BBL having had a brief spell with London Lions in 2013 and has gone on to win multiple Championship titles overseas.

“I’m excited to confirm I’ll be joining the London City Royals for the upcoming BBL season,” he
said.

“I’d been hearing some good things about what was being worked on with the Royals and so it was
only a matter of time before I sat down and met with Nhamo and the management group.

“When we met it was clear to me that there is something special happening with this team and the commitment to helping take British basketball to the next level and inspiring the next generation was something I couldn’t turn away from.

“For those who know me, I’ve always been a London guy from when I first picked up a basketball with Jimmy Rogers at Brixton Topcats and learning the game with my brothers Justin Robinson and Ogo Adegboye. My roots to home have always been strong.

“My career has taken me all over the world and I’ve been blessed to have played in front of thousands of people, but the fire to return home and play in front of friends and family in the same area I grew up, while inspiring the next generation to hopefully be able to do the same has always been strong. But I never thought it would be possible.

“Having the chance to do that now, with the Royals, with players I’m close with and have played with over the years every summer with Midnight Madness, is going to be like a family reunion.

“I’m looking forward to getting started and helping the league grow and reflect the level of talent we all know British players have and being a part of this movement we feel is taking shape in breaking our game through to the mainstream.

“We want to win at the Royals and looking at our guys, I think we are letting the league know, we are new but we are serious about making our mark.

“I’m excited to get started.”

Bryan-Amaning becomes the latest addition to a squad that also contains Ashley Hamilton, Orlan Jackman, Elvisi Dusha, Will Neighbour, Ed Lucas and AJ Roberts.
