SANTA CLAUS has arrived at one of Sunderland’s most popular hair and beauty salons.
Reds in East Herrington had already transformed its ‘secret garden’ into a Winter Wonderland, and now local children and families will be able to make Covid-secure visits to see Father Christmas.
“We wanted to create a bit of festive cheer amid all the gloom so decorated our garden with reindeer and spectacular Christmas lights,” explained Reds owner Susan Hall.
“The salon has become a bit of a community hub and that’s something we want to encourage, so asking Santa to join us for a few days was a logical step. Any profits will be going to the Foundation of Light, a charity we’ve supported for many years because of the brilliant work they do in the local community,” added Susan.
Santa’s diary is already filling up, so booking to see him is essential. There are still a few slots available during Santa’s visits to Reds, which are:
- Saturday, December 12, 4pm-6pm
- Sunday, December 13, 4pm-6pm
- Saturday, December 19, 4pm-6pm
- Sunday, December 20, 4pm-6pm
“Throughout the pandemic we’ve stuck rigidly to Covid protocols and families can rest assured all necessary precautions will be taken to keep them – and Santa – safe. We’ll be giving people specific time slots, maintaining social distancing and we ask that groups are a maximum of six, inclusive of adults, and belong to the same household or support bubble,” said Susan.
The cost of children meeting Santa to pass on their Christmas lists is £8 and they’ll receive a selection box. No booking can be held without credit card payment so ring 0191 5110288 to book your time slot.
“We’d advise people to wrap up warm as the visits will take place outdoors to make them extra Covid secure. We’ll also have hot and cold drinks available to purchase,” said Susan.
Reds’ newly-landscaped Secret Garden was introduced when the salon closed its doors for the first lockdown.
“We changed things around inside the salon to make Covid restrictions more workable, but I also wanted to make the most of our huge garden. So now when the weather is better we can cut and style, and deliver beauty treatments outside,” said Susan.
“We were granted a licence to serve alcohol – so during the summer months clients were in the garden relaxing in style,” she added.
