School Pupils Meet Dennis the Menace at Beano Masterclass with DFDS

BeanoMore than 30 children from Morpeth All Saints School in Northumberland learned how to draw their favourite characters from The Beano during a comic masterclass arranged by DFDS.

The youngsters were welcomed on board the ferry company’s ship, King Seaways, at Newcastle by Dennis the Menace before being treated to an exclusive masterclass with legendary Beano comic artist Kev F Sutherland. During the event they were taught to draw some of the comic’s most famous characters, including Dennis the Menace, Gnasher, Minnie the Minx and the Bash Street Kids.

The special event kicked-off a summer promotion by DFDS, which will see it give away more than 120,000 free copies of a special edition of The Beano to customers on its ships in July and August. The special issue of the comic has been developed in partnership with publisher DC Thomson to mark the ferry operator’s 150th anniversary.

To celebrate its partnership, the ferry company is also offering its customers the chance to win prizes, including free annual subscriptions to The Beano and free ferry tickets. Customers can take part in The Beano themed competitions at www.dfds.co.uk/beano and via Twitter @DFDSSeaways.
