Theatre company Wrongsemble are bringing their production of The Selfish Giant to ARC in Stockton on Friday 16th and Saturday 17th February 2018.

Oscar Wilde’s classic tale has been reimagined for the stage in this magical adventure for the whole family but accessible for children between the ages of three and seven.

Local press outlets may wish to note that as well as being co-commissioned by ARC, Wrongsemble spent time at the venue developing the show in November last year and also ran Research & Development sessions with Year 2 classes at Billingham South Community Primary School.

About the Show

“Once upon a time there was the most beautiful garden. A garden where blossom hung from every tree, and the sound of birdsong echoed in every corner. A garden filled with the laughter of children playing, where the gates were always open…

But those days are long since gone.

Now there is a high wall around it, built by a monstrous selfish giant, which keeps out all the children, and a sign promises that ‘Trespassers will be prosecuted’. Now people can barely even remember the garden, or the happiness that it once brought to all who played there… until a brave child dares to rediscover what lies within!

Join us as we climb through the cracks in The Selfish Giant’s wall, and find the beauty that lies within the garden, and us all.”

Co-commissioned by Barnsley Civic and ARC Stockton. Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

The performance on Fri 16 Feb at 2.30pm will be a relaxed performance and will also be BSL interpreted.
