South Tyneside Council is holding an information session on Thursday 14 April at the Adoption Service’s base at 16 Barrington Street in South Shields, NE33 1AN, from 6.00pm – 8.00pm where staff will be on hand to chat to people interested in finding out more about becoming an adoptive parent.
South Tyneside Council is looking for more people to consider becoming adoptive parents.
People from all walks of life and backgrounds are welcome to come along and find out whether adoption might be for them. Single people, same-sex couples, people from ethnic minorities and families from South Tyneside and further afield are encouraged to come along to the information evening.
Comprehensive training is delivered to people interested in adopting to ensure it is right for them and ongoing support is also given throughout.
Councillor Joan Atkinson, Lead Member for Children, Young People and Families, said: “Adopting a child is a life-changing decision so it’s important to get as much accurate information about the process as possible. That’s why these sessions are so important so I’d encourage anyone who thinks adoption might be for them to come along and find out more.”
Anyone who can’t make the information session but is interested in finding out more adoption is asked to call the Council on (0191) 423 8500.
