Seussical the Musical

Seussical the MusicalEnter the wacky and wonderful world of Dr. Seuss as Gala Theatre Stage School juniors perform Seussical the Musical at Gala.

Audiences will be taken on a magical adventure by the juniors in the musical written by Stephen Flaherty and Lyn Ahrens, both Tony Award-winners, with help from Monty Python’s Eric Idle.

Seussical the Musical will come to Durham’s Gala theatre on Thursday 2 and Friday 3 June, 7.00pm with an afternoon show on Friday at 2.00pm.

Bringing elements together from Dr. Seuss’s beloved books Horton Hears a Who!, Green Eggs and Ham and the Cat in the Hat, Seussical follows the adventures of Horton the Elephant who discovers a small world floating by on a tiny speck of dust.

The small world floating out of control through the universe is the home of the Whos, including Jojo, a Who with ‘thinks’ that defy all description. Their mission? To find a way to save Who from a world of naysayers and dangers.

Horton faces ridicule and danger as he guards an abandoned egg left to him by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. However, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in Horton, and through the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community they are triumphant.

“Oh the thinks you can think” when the juniors’ imagination is set free to bring this magical musical and Dr. Seuss’s best-loved characters to life on the Gala stage.
