Sohe Announces Award-Winning Chef Partnership in Well-Guarded Move

RENOWNED Asian cuisine restaurant Sohe has exclusively joined forces with award-winning Chef Parichat Somsri-Kirby, bringing her signature style and expertise to the Jesmond establishment for a new dynamic dining experience.

Under the guidance of Parichat or ‘Pla’ to friends and her talented team, Sohe will be re-launched as Parichat at Sohe, which will also now be extending opening hours to lunch and dinner seven days a week, between 12pm-2.30pm and 5pm-10pm on Monday-Saturday and 3pm-10pm on Sunday.

Parichat grew up on a rice farm in beautiful Northern Thailand where she started out cooking for 300 school children before meeting her husband Steve Kirby and moving to the UK in 1998. As ‘Pla’ trained to cook in European kitchens in North East England, she was able to push her skills beyond what she had learned back home in Asia.

Following her dream to bring the very best South East Asian food to the North East, Parichat joined Terry Laybourne’s 21 Hospitality Group in 2002, going on to become head chef at the popular Café 21 in Fenwick Newcastle.

Parichat has since been named ‘North East Chef of the Year’, demonstrating her refined talents and knowledge, as well as her creativity and culinary instinct.

Parichat said: “I’m passionate about making ingredients speak for themselves and expressing my journey through food, and ‘Parichat at Sohe’ will provide the perfect platform to present a fusion product that can do this like none before.

“The North East food scene is exceptional with so many fine eating establishments, and Sohe itself has always been highly-regarded for Asian cuisine. It’s been a pleasure working together with the team to create an offer completely new to the region, which we’re looking forward to officially unveiling.”

Sohe is owned and managed by premium hotel and bar operator Cairn Group.

Naveen Handa, director at Cairn Group, said: “We are thrilled to announce our new found partnership with one of the North East’s most celebrated chefs, whose experience and specialist skills are unmatched. With Parichat on board, Sohe has entered a new era offering some of the finest Asian cuisine in Newcastle, with dishes sure to become famous for their flavour this summer.”

To celebrate the launch, there is 20% off food* being offered for the first month from now until 17 September 2017. For more information on Sohe call 0191 281 8161, visit www.sohe.co.uk or follow @SoheNewcastle on Twitter.
