The annual PRIDE awards recognise staff from all departments of the council as well as the dedication of volunteers and apprentices working both at the council and in other businesses across Redcar and Cleveland.
This year, the school, including parents, governors and staff, the local authority and other agencies have been recognised with the esteemed accolade.
This comes after South Bank Primary School was faced with the situation of relocating the school temporarily in Teesville on Learning Lane as structural work continues at its permanent location on Poplar Grove in South Bank.
Cllr Sue Jeffrey, Leader of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council and governor of South Bank Primary School said: “The school has moved to its temporary location with minimum disruption to the children and their education, and for that reason they deserve this fantastic recognition.
“We are proud to present this award to the school, which has been most notably recognised by Ofsted to be ‘good with outstanding features’.”
Cllr Craig Hannaway, Cabinet Member for Children at Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council said: “The excellent partnership between school, community and council in very trying circumstances has delivered a really good standard of education for the children of South Bank.
“I would like to thank everyone involved for their flexibility, enthusiasm and stamina, and to congratulate the children for all their good work.
“Headteacher Helen Hall and her team thoroughly deserve this award.”
Mayor of Redcar and Cleveland, Cllr Brenda Forster said: “I am delighted to have presented South Bank Primary School with this award. The staff at the school have done a fantastic job, and all parties involved should be very proud of themselves.”
Helen Hall, headteacher at South Bank Primary School said: “We are extremely pleased that we were awarded the ‘Partnership’ award for our work in managing a school move while concurrently ensuring we continued to raise standards, which was recognised by our successful Ofsted inspection.
“Without a true partnership between the children, staff, parents, governors and local authority this would not have been possible. Well done everyone, an incredible achievement.
“As headteacher of the school I speak on behalf of the team to say we are immensely proud of our achievements and thank the borough for this recognition. However we will continue in our work to support our children to achieve their potential and will be relentless in our drive to move back to our home on Poplar Grove.”
