A cancer charity is set to benefit from a significant donation by a leading North East-based trade supplies firm.
Flame Heating Spares, which operates seven sites across the region, has raised £2,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support, following its Flame Heating Spares Raceday at Newcastle Racecourse.
The firm sponsored the racecourse’s first-ever floodlit fixture in September 2016 and held a fundraiser at the evening event.
John Savage, managing director of Flame Heating Spares, is to make the raceday a permanent fixture in the company’s fundraising calendar, with a new charity or local cause supported each year.
He said: “It was a fantastic evening of racing, with plenty of enjoyable moments and entertainment, in support of a very worthwhile cause. I am proud that we were able to be a part of such a momentous occasion in Newcastle Racecourse’s history.
“We have enjoyed great success in a short period of time since launching the company, so it is important to give back to the community and recognise those who have supported us and made Flame what it is today.
“I would like to thank all our clients, family members and friends for their support of the event and for making it a special celebration. We will now be carrying on this tradition by hosting an annual event at Newcastle Racecourse for a deserving cause.”
