Step back in time for Christmas Bazaar at Preston park

THIS weekend you are invited to step back in time and celebrate Christmas on the cobbles at Preston Park Museum’s traditional festive Bazaar.

Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, the traditional Christmas market will return with over 50 handpicked stalls. Find gifts for all the family with products ranging from hampers to handmade decorations, textiles to chutney. Blackwells of Norton will be selling their famous pies and serving up pulled turkey sandwiches along with The Spitting Pig Company’s tasty hog roast.

There’s fun for all the family to be had with a chance to meet Father Christmas in his traditional grotto, take a ride on a ‘festive donkey’ through the Orchard, write a letter to the North Pole using a dip pen and ink and have a go at making Magic Reindeer Food to guide Santa’s sleigh on Christmas Eve. Plus make a bookmark to take home with our real life elves in a traditional leather craft workshop.

Visitors will be treated to live performances from local community groups including the Stockton Salvation Army and Cleveland Police Band. Times vary throughout the weekend.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, Councillor Norma Wilburn, said: “The Christmas Bazaar is a great way to get into the festive spirit.  Not only are there a wonderful range of gifts and tasty treats for sale, there are also lots of fun activities for the whole family.

“If you are looking for some Christmas cheer this weekend Preston Park Museum and Grounds is the place to be.”

The Christmas Bazaar is open from 10am until 4pm (last admission is 3.30pm) and will take place in the Victorian Street, Music Room and festive marquee. Entry is free with museum admission; additional charges apply to some activities.
