Step Up To Strictly St Cuthbert’s

THE STARS of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing are gearing up for the launch of the live programs this weekend and the show will become a firm fixture for many families in the run up to Christmas. But how about taking part yourself? Have you always dreamed of donning your dancing shoes and hitting the dancefloor? A Durham based charity is giving you the opportunity to do just that as registration opens for Strictly St Cuthbert’s.

Strictly St Cuthbert’s offers couples the opportunity to learn to dance over 8 weeks and hot step their way into a Grand Finale in front of an audience at The Lancastrian Suite, Gateshead on Saturday March 10th 2018. Your partner could be a friend, spouse, relative or anyone happy to put on their dancing shoes and join you.

The charity event in aid of St Cuthbert’s Hospice, Durham, helps to raise funds for the vital care provided by the hospice for those with life-limiting illnesses, and their families.

Last year’s spectacular event saw Suzanne & Nick Brown from Durham take home the winners glitter ball trophy after completing an impressive cha-cha to Bonnie Tyler’s Holding Out For A Hero.

Jade McArdle, Senior Community & Events Fundraiser at St Cuthbert’s Hospice, said: “Beginners are welcome and no previous experience is necessary at all. One of our couples last year didn’t even dance at their own wedding before signing up as a surprise Christmas present! It’s such a fun event and really is just like the TV show with our couples working with professional choreographers and even doing a behind the scenes video to be shown on the big screen at the Grand Finale.”

If you’re interested in joining the recruits for the 2018 event and signing up to don your dancing shoes for St Cuthbert’s Hospice, contact Jade McArdle on 0191 386 1170 or email Jade.McArdle@stcuthbershospice.com. Spaces are limited to 12 couples. Registration is £30 per person. More information at www.stcuthbertshospice.com.
