Stockton Cycling Festival Road Closures

Stockton Cycling Road Closures largeRESIDENTS and visitors are being advised to be aware of the road closures and parking restrictions that will be in place during the Stockton Cycling Festival 2016.

From Thursday 23 June to Sunday 26 June inclusive, there will be a series of fixed and rolling road closures across Stockton Borough due to the arrival of the 2016 British Cycling National Road Championships.

Areas affected include Stockton, Teesdale, Ingleby Barwick, Wynyard, Thorpe Thewles, Carlton, Redmarshall, Whitton and Thorpe Leazes.

Councillor Nigel Cooke, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Transport, said: “This is an exciting time for the Borough as we gear up to host a world class cycling event featuring some of the sport’s finest riders.

“We understand that any road closures, restrictions or diversions may inconvenience some people but we’d ask for their patience and understanding in that they are absolutely necessary for an event of this scale to be safe.

“During the event it’d be great if everyone could set off early for any journeys and allow for extra time to reach their destination.

“There’s a great deal of excitement around as the Stockton Cycling Festival 2016 draws near so I hope everyone continues to look forward to the event and comes down to Stockton to be part of what is set to be a truly memorable event for all the family.”
