Summer Singing comes to the Forum

Screen Shot 2016-05-11 at 14.06.45Ever wanted to join a choir? Or always fancied giving singing a try? Or do you sing already and would like to try new songs? Top choral leader Em Whitfield Brooks (pictured) is coming to Northallerton this summer with a brand new project.

Sing Summer! is a series of seven singing workshops taking place at The Forum Northallerton on Wednesdays in June and July, and there’s an initial Taster session on Wednesday 25 May, 8 – 9pm, where Em will introduce her approach to finding the voice, and showcase some of the songs involved.

Em is one of the most highly-regarded vocal leaders in the UK. She has worked with singers since 1990, founding her own choirs Ellacapella, Voicebox and Helmsley Community Choir, as well as being the first director of Hull Freedom Chorus. She works with choirs and singers all over the UK and internationally and specialises in directing large-scale community performance. Her approach is dynamic, inclusive, ‘non-traditional’ and fun. “It doesn’t matter whether you have ever sung before, or whether you are an experienced vocalist; there is always a clearer, stronger, richer voice to explore. I’m not interested in auditioning singers. My approach is based in the exploration of the voices we’ve already got, finding ways to relax more, increase focus and celebrate our musicality together. For experienced singers I offer a really useful refresher of technique and existing skills, working with a variety of repertoire, and for beginners I guarantee a fun and fearless experience!” Anyone interested in taking part can come to the Taster session on 25 May at 8pm to find out more. There’s no need to book, but if you would like more information email Em at em@emwhitfieldbrooks.com
